仕事で忙しく、こんなに時間が空いてしまいました・・・

 

第4話の後編を飛ばして、第5話から始めたいと思います！

 

ちなみに第4話の後編はまとめると、ジェシーの両親がジェシーの弟が吸ってたマリファナを

ジェシーの物だと疑い、「家から出ていけ！」と言われてしまいます。そこで弟が「僕のだって

言わないでくれてありがとう。」と言い、兄弟の絆が少し縮まった的な感じです。

一方、ウォルターはガソリンスタンドであのムカつく男に遭遇。彼の車を炎上させて懲らしめてやるのでした。

 

って感じです！すいません簡単なまとめで笑

第5話はジェシーが仕事の面接に来ているところから始まります。

 

 

営業職に就けると思っていたジェシーですが、勘違いをしておりまさかの任される仕事はマスコットを着ての宣伝。

起こってオフィスを飛び出たらなんとびっくり。外で仕事をしていたマスコットは友達のバッジャー君だったのです。

 

バッジャー君とハッパを吸ったジェシーはバッジャーに「組まないか？」と誘われ、その話に乗ってしまいます。

 

 

ウォルターは大学時代の親友、エリオットの誕生日パーティーにスカイラーと出席。

 

 

やはり話題はスカイラーのお腹の中の赤ちゃんです。

エリオットの彼女（妻？）のグレッチェンが言うこちらのセリフにまずは注目です！

 

"When are you do?"

"When are you due?"

「予定日はいつなの？」

 

"due"は数個意味がありますが、主に下の二つの意味で使われます。

 

例：

 

1.（提出するものなどの）期限

 

 "When is this paper due?"

「このレポート、いつ提出なの？」

 

2.～の為（because～と同じ感じ）

"All schools in the state will be closed on Friday, due to the snow storm."

「吹雪の為、州のすべての学校は金曜日休校になります。」

 

といった感じですかね。

 

そういえば、数年前に"Due Date"という映画がありましたね！

仕事でアトランタに来ていたピーター・ハイマン（ロバート・ダウニー・Jr）は妻の出産に立ち会うため

飛行機に乗ってロサンゼルスに帰ろうとするも、イーサン・トレンブレー（ザック・ガリフィアナキス）と

ひょんな事から飛行機の搭乗拒否リストに載ってしまいます。財布を機内に忘れてお金も身分証明書

も無いピーターは、仕方なくイーサンのレンタカーに乗り妻の出産までに急いで家に帰ろうとします。

しかし道中でも面白トラブル、ハプニングがたくさん起こってしまって・・・！？

 

的な内容です。笑

 

おわかりだろうと思いますが、この映画のタイトルのdue date。「出産予定日」です。

ですから、妊娠している友達に「When's your due date?」等と聞くと、「予定日はいつなの？」

ということになります。

 

続きます！

 

エリオットのプレゼント紹介が終わった後、エリオットとウォルターは昔の話で盛り上がります。

 

とある教授の話をしていた時のウォルターのセリフに注目！

 

"It was easy to kill 15 minutes."

このセンテンスで使われているkillですが、もちろん「殺す」という意味ではありません。笑

 

Killという単語には「殺す」という意味の他にも使えます。今回は時間に対しての「Kill」についてご説明します。

 

お察しの方もいるかもしれませんが、時間に対して「kill」という単語を使うときは、「時間を潰す」と言いたい時に使います。

 

例：

 

1. "We've got an hour to kill. You wanna go get some coffee?"

「1時間くらい時間潰さなくちゃ。コーヒーでも飲みに行く？」

 

2. "I need to kill some time. Any ideas?"

「時間潰さないといけないの。なんか良いアイディアない？」

 

といった感じですね。

 

この教授はロベルト・ヴィルヘルム・ブンゼン（Robert Wilhelm Bunsen）という科学者が嫌いで、

ブンセンバーナーと呼ばれるバーナーの話を出すだけで怒って15分くらい喋り続けるので、

授業が簡単に15分潰れる、ということをウォルターは言っていたのです。

 

続きます。

 

ケンカをしながらパーティーを後にしたウォルターとスカイラー。

 

 

シーンは次の日に移り、バッジャーがジェシーの家を訪ねます。

 

 

ジェシーは真面目に仕事をしないで遊んでいるバッジャーに呆れながら麻薬を作ります。

 

ジュニアは友達と一緒に大人にビールを買ってもらおうとして、失敗。

ハンスに迎えに来てもらいます。

 

 

そして家に着き、ジュニアは部屋へ、ハンス、マリー、スカイラーはジュニアについて家族会議。

その会議の中で、ハッパを吸っていたのがジュニアではなくウォルターだったとスカイラーに

言われたハンスとマリー。

 

びっくりしたハンスのこのセリフに注目してみましょう。

 

"I didn't think he had it in him."

"I didn't think he had it in him."

「あいつがハッパ？意外だな」

 

Had it in ～は、「何かをすることに対してそれ相応の能力、特性、素質などがあること」と言う意味です。

 

例えば、バスケの試合で試合終了のブザーと同時に逆転ゴールを決めて試合に勝ったとしましょう。

そんな時にコーチがゴールを決めた選手に向かって、

 

"I knew you had it in you!"

「お前ならやってくれると思ってたぜ！」

 

こんな感じで使います。

 

ハンスはウォルターが悪いことをするガッツがあると思っていなかったので、

"I DIDN'T THINK he had it in him."と言ったわけです。

 

この後はこの家族会議のあと、ジェシーが自分の作ったメスに満足しなかった為、捨ててしまいます。

 

 

ここで丁度5話目の半分くらいなので、今回はここで終了です！

 

ジェシー、ウォルターと組んでちょっと仕事に対して真面目になったような気がしませんか？笑

 

これからこの二人がどんなチームになるのか楽しみです。笑

オシャレさん必見！「Today's coordinate」なんて言いませんよ！

こんにちは！

今日は、たくさんの人が使っているフレーズについてです。

Twitterやブログなどで「今日のコーディネート」と、

鏡を使って全身の写メをUPしている人、たくさん居ますよね。

そして、そのような写真によーーーく書いてあるのが、

「Today's Coordinate」というフレーズ。

「Coordinate」は、基本的に同等・同格・または調整と言う意味で使われます。

一応、「合わせて機能させる」、「合わせていい感じにする」と言う意味もあり、

服に対して使えないことも無いのですが・・・

ネイティブは「Today's Coordinate」、なんて言いません。

長い間アメリカに住んでいましたが、服に対して「Coordinate」なんて

言ったことも無いし、聞いたことも無いし、雑誌でも見たことありません。

日本では雑誌などにも「オススメ夏コーデ！」的なかんじで

「Summer Coordinate」などと英語で書かれてたりするので、

疑問に思わずそのまま真似して「Coordinate」と書いてしまうのも

わかるのですが・・・すみません、そこで「Coordinate」は使いません。

そんな調子でアメリカ人に（例えばですが）

「Do you like my coordinate?」なんて言ったら大変。

「はぁ？？？」と、思われます。

「今日のコーディネート」、と写真に入れたいのであれば、

「Today's Look」、もしくは「Today's Outfit」等と入れましょう。

これを見てくれたオシャレさん達！

写真に入れる英語も正しいものにして、服だけじゃなく英語でも周りと差を

つけてくださいね♪

Katsuyoshi - KICKASS KATSU Restaurant EVER

Hey guys!

 

I'm going to talk about this great Katsu Restaurant in Shibuya.

 

I JUST LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!!!

 

It's called, Katsuyoshi.

 

 

This place is real Japanesey, with wooden tables and chairs and all.

 

 

They also have these cool collection of these cups we usually use to

put broth (mentsuyu) for cold soba in Japan.

 

 

They have a very good selection of all the Katsu too,

and they also have their lunch specials.

 

Okay, the menu I had the day I went was...

 

Hiyashi Katsu Don. It's a special menu that they only have durin summer time.

 

They have two kinds of these - regular shoyu (soy sauce), and curry.

I had the shoyu version.

 

LOOK AT THIS.

 

 

This is so good that this thing came from heaven or something. lol

 

They also serve tsukemonos and salad after you order,

and you could have a refill of these as much as you want, FOR FREE!

 

 

This place is just SUPER AMAZING.

 

So if you're at Shibuya and in a mood for a super good katsu, you know where to go now.

 

I know a lot of menus here are a little pricy, but I'm sure you will NOT regret it.

Perfect dessert for summer! - 超美味しい！氷結のアイススムージー！

Hey guys!!

 

I'm going to talk about a real good summer dessert today.

 

And they are.... These Hyoketsu smoothies!

 

 

 

Have you ever seen these drinks before?

 

 

They are called Hyoketsu, and they are flavored alcoholic drinks.

 

These desserts are the smoothie version of them!

 

They are super good and refreshing, and they are absolutely

PERFECT to eat for desserts in this super hot weather in Japan! 

My hubbie and I love these so much that we bought like 12 of them the other day. LOL

 

But here is something you should note.

I don't know why but they are only available at Family Mart.

 

I checked other convenient stores like 7-Eleven and LAWSON, but

I didn't see them. I checked the supermarket I usually go (SEIYU) too,

but didn't see them there either.

 

Well anyways, these bad boys has two flavors, lychee and pineapple.

 

They are both good, but I like the pineapple one better :))

 

So if you're interested, give it a try! I'm sure you'll like them! :D

外国人の超面白「歌ってみた」動画！

こんにちは！

今回は外国人の方々が日本の人気バンド「ゆず」の夏色を

全力でカバーしている動画をご紹介します！日本語で歌い、

How To Make Easy Home Made Japanese Pickled Vegetables (Tsukemonos)!

This is for all those you Tsukemono lovers out there!

(Tsukemono is a traditional Japanese Pickled Vegetables)

 

There are different kinds of Tsukemonos, but I'm going to show

you how to make home made "Asazukes" today.

 

It's SUPER EASY, so you can try it whenever you want!

 

First, you go to a supermarket and get one of these. This is called

Asazuke No Moto, an Asazuke flavored liquid. (Sorry, it's a little hard to explain lol)

 

 

If you have trouble finding this at the store, you can get it online :)

Then, get some vegetables - such as cucumbers, carrots, eggplants, and radish.

 

These are all the things you need!

 

What you need to do next is to cut up all the vegetables.

Try not cutting the vegetables that thick so that the vegetables

will be flavored faster. Try cutting them into around 5mm, like in the picture below.

 

 

Once you're done cutting all the vegetables, put them into a ziplock or

any kind of container, and pour the Asazuke No Moto to a level that covers

up the vegetables.

 

Leave this in the fridge for a day, and you're done!!

 

How easy is this?

 

So if you're a Tsukemono lover, this is one thing you absolutely should try at home!!

PARADISE KEBAB - Yummy kebab place in Motoyawata!

Hey!

 

I'm going to talk about this GREAT kebab place in Motoyawata today.

 

It's perfect for brunch or a snack after a workout!

 

This place is called....

 

PARADISE KEBAB!

 

 

A lovely family owns this place, and the great thing is,

Mr. Paradise Kebab speaks English!

 

So don't be afraid to go there even if you don't speak Japanese :D

(I'm pretty sure Mr. Paradise Kebab usually has the night shift here

so if you are not comfortable speaking in Japanese, then you should go

and visit at night.)

 

This place is only like 2 minutes away from the Motoyawata station,

and the kebabs here are pretty big and filling, but you can get them for a very good price.

 

They have several menus, starting from Chicken Kebab and Beef Kebab,

and they have several kinds of sauces like the original sauce, mayo, chili, garlic,

and salt and pepper! If you pay an extra 50 Yen, you could get more meat in your

kebab as well! :D

 

 

I usually get the Mix (means it has beef and chicken) Kebab with extra meat

and the hot chili sauce. I am so SURE that you'll love this place once you know it because...

 

THE KEBABS HERE ARE AWESOME.
